Originally from Yokohama, Japan, Ryo Kuramoto is a New York City based makeup artist working in the fashion industry.
While living in Tokyo, I studied architectural design in university and after graduation pursued my artistic passions. Never being one to shy away from new experiences, I pursued a creative career path.
I traveled around Asia and in Japan and received a deeper thoughts of multi perspective while he went through different language and cultures, thoughts, religious. Then later, I had a curious about United States that has influenced in large to Japan and it became his next destination.
In 2011, I moved to New York City to study make up and broaden my exposure to different perceptions of beauty and arts. Over the years, I have been able to have been mentored and taught by some of the most skilled making up artists working in fashion.
My passion to create art has remained and grown into different mediums over the years from makeup to photography, drawing, painting and sculpture. My perspective, while always deeply rooted in my Japanese heritage, is informed by nature, color, fragrance and the many countries and cultures that I travel to today.
“What is real beauty in a life, in a moment?” This question and concept has been held through my life and throughout my work.
